Grove Park Gardens
ITA Interiors designed and project managed the full renovation of this semi-detached period house in Chiswick. The property had not been renovated in 20 years and was in need of structural work as well as a complete cosmetic revamp.
When redesigning the ground floor, the client had asked for an open-plan living and kitchen space that opened up into the beautiful southern-facing garden. After careful structural analysis and calculations form our engineers, we decided to surgically remove parts of the load-bearing wall that segregated the two spaces. We designed a feature kitchen-island that brings momentum to the dining area whilst providing sleek storage for the kitchen crockery and utensils.
The existing staircase was in dire condition, with many spindles missing or broken causing the handrail to offer little support. Preserving the staircase was not an option and so, taking the opportunity, we sought to redesign the space entirely. The existing entrance hall was dark and uninviting and so we designed a glass and steel-spine staircase in order to bring in as much precious natural sunlight and create a bright and airy entrance hall.
